To create this I used the stems (isolated tracks) from 3 songs off my 1998 April Sessions project and added other musicians and samples.
Wild Sound Minneapolis, Mathew Zimmerman - Engineer
Irv Williams passed away in 2019 at 100 years old, Bobby way too early in 2002 at 52. Both Minneapolis treasures.
Tom Lewis played bass on the date.

This was early Pro Tools, the back-up I had was on Sony 113 digital tape.
Files were extracted by Eddie Ciletti. link
I then use the MPC to cut samples from the tracks and create a completely new song. I've used these machines for producing music since the early 2000's and have owned a few different models.
Cool machine.
We typically did multiple takes at the 1998 session until we got 1 that was good through...so I had alternate things to chop up.
I sent those basic song ideas off to Reid, Kevin and Andrew who all created their tracks at home studios.
Got those back and continued the arranging process.
There's some string samples I used from my Vibraharp release along with other sound design too.
I started this project right as the world was shutting down. - in the case of drums we tracked those ultimately at the NEW Wild Sound to get the Boom. Steve Kaul - Engineer
Speaking of drums, Reid Kennedy was a constant go to for me on this project for mix and arrangement strategy et al.
Drums are really important in this genre.
I love the push and pull of this style music - Reid is a fab player and music producer. Check his music out link below.
